Sauteed Purslane

Cut Purslane in 1 Inch Length

Cut Garlic, Onion, and Red Chilis

Add Ghee to Medium Saucepan Over Medium Heat

Sautee Garlic for a Minute

Add Onion to Saucepan

Sautee Garlic and Onion

Add Purslane to Saucepan

Add Salt and Red Chilis

Mix Purslane and Cover Saucepan and Cook for 3 Minutes Over High Heat

Turn off Heat and Uncover Saucepan

Serve Purslane with White Rice


Sauteed Purslane

Cook Time: 5 mins

  • 3 Tsp. Ghee
  • 3 Medium Cloves of Garlic Sliced Thinly
  • 1 Medium White Onion Thinly Sliced
  • 4 Cups Purslane (Cut in 1" length)
  • 1/2 Tsp. Salt
  • 2 Red Chilis Cut Lengthwise


  1. Cut and Wash Purslane in 1" Length
  2. In a Medium Saucepan Over Medium Heat, Add Ghee, Add Garlic and Sautee for a Minute
  3. Add Onions and Sautee for Another 2 Minutes
  4. Add Purslane and Mix with Onions and Garlic
  5. Cover Saucepan and Cook for 3 Minutes over High Heat
  6. Turn off Heat and Serve Purslane with Rice

This is a great quick recipe. Yes, Purslane is considered a weed, but it has a delicious flavor, so I highly recommend it.
